Being honest before your first date.

Just a quick note from HIV Passions.

We recently received a message from a member of HIV Passions relating a recent date that took place.

They wanted to let us know that they have met some members of the site, and that some have used photos of themselves in their profiles from when they were younger (and healthier) than they are now.

This was the case in this situation, and it led to some surprise when the person arriving for the date did not look like the person they presented in their profile.

While it shouldn't be a surprise that people dealing with HIV can have health issues that may sneak up and cause one to (temporarily?) look less healthy than typical, there really is no excuse for posting photos that do not accurately reflect how you usually look.

Posting old photos of yourself is misleading, and unless you actually say 'That is an old photo of me, when I was X yrs old', it can lead to a negative first impression when meeting in person.

We HIGHLY recommend that members be honest with themselves and with the other members of the site/network by posting (and updating) recent photos...and please update your description as your health status changes.

There are plenty of people who will be accepting of whatever situation an individual is in, provided they are aware of it.

Surprising someone by being older than you presented in your photos, or by being in worse health than you led on, is most likely going to lead to wasted time, or hurt feelings, or heartbreak.

Please be honest with yourself and with other members!
