I live with two people in a house; one is the house owner, the other person is a boarder like me. I am a person living with H.I.V. The house owner is a cat enthusiast who feeds up to ten different cats from the neighborhood, none of which are his cats. His daily routine involves taking all these little saucers that all these cats have eaten off of and then washing them in the kitchen sink. This is the same sink that we all have to use for daily kitchen use. These cats kill and eat rodents and birds which they then carry around in their mouths, and of course use their tongues to clean themselves.
One day, out of concern for my health, I asked this person if I could have the cat dishes washed in a separate basin, flushing the water down the toilet. I even offered to do the washing myself just to stop these cat dishes from passing through our kitchen sink. He told me I should think about finding another place to live, and has continued to wash those cat dishes in the sink everyday (sometimes twice daily) ever since. I am obviously concerned for my health for good reasons.
I have 3 questions; question 1 is a 2-parter
1. What do you think about this person and their choice to ignore my request?
2. What do you think I should do about this?

`Dear friend,
i say that you have a valid reason to be concerned about your health and wellbeing. I had to move out of my appartment in Amsterdam, Netherlands for a similar reason. My then roommate (also poz himself) had the bad habit of not washing his hands - even after handling rubbish or going to the toilet !! Until finding a new place to live, i found a solution which might be usefull to you until you are able to find another place to live. I took ALL my dishes and kitchen utensils to my room and everyday i washed them separately with my own sponge. I used to eat in my room, wash my dishes and take them back to my room. Needless to say, i didn't stay long in the appartment, i left as soon as i found a new one. I sincerely wish you good luck.

`I agree with pozle. Although I live on my own and don't have them problems. health is 1st. And there are things you can catch through cats, pets, etc. Try getting a new place free of opportunistic infections. But first and foremost, it's up to you to take care of yourself. Good luck on that.
