just skimming thru other topics related to dating and it seems the same issue pops up again and again - what can you tell about a person when they dont have a photo up and they write v little in their profile. its a hard one.but usually ppl message with a photo after the first email so it is not
a huge obstacle , there are many good reasons not to put a pic online.


maybe some creativity with photographs and images would help to say a 1000 words - if you have a camera. for those of us who are tecked up with digicam / webcam / internet - its not a problem except maybe a psychological. but for people who don't have a camera cant borrow one and dont have internet access at home or at work its a case of waiting to make the written word hit the right note .

For those who really only want S-- and don't mind who provides it , i guess they'll be just as laissez faire with their profile information. The problem then is you cant separate the shy from the lazy and the couldn't care less from the dont know how to write this stuff......some people get stage fright staring at their empty profile page as it begs to be filled with intelligent text.

Then a lot of people don't have a photo because they don't have a sense of security about going to an internet cafe or a hiv group and scanning photo / uploading onto a HIV Positive Dating Site and they really don't want to be recognised as hiv positive, or they have to do it at work on a break covertly without the office gossip getting in on the act . fair enough reason.


But if you cant put an image of yourself why not use something else just to spice up your personal page - and humanise it - why not use photos of a favourite sport or occupation or an event or a joke strip a funny cartoon - there are many ways to stand out from the crowd....
or take a photo of side profile, smile or just eyes . some sites dont allow this which is a shame, some dont allow you to use cartoon images which
is also poor sighted.

people are visual - we dont get far without the images these days. it makes you wonder what our nannies and grannies did before the advent of the infomation superhighway...did they sit up all night painting portraits to send on a wing and a prayer to a prospective lover , not a chance , they
used the written word poetry and song and tuned in with those other senses.

a lot of people don't know what to write - they are doers not writers, or they have been through the mill with the dating scene and rewriting
profiles . it is good to rewrite them every few months to keep it fresh
as it can be a long ride if you are hoping to fall in love .

it would a nice feature of HIV Personal's Websites if they added a link to
a good guideline on writing about yourself , for those that really want to find a partner , long term relationship or long distance relationship but
dont know how to write themeselves.

it would be nice to have access to a database of site cleared alternative images and cartoons for people to browse when they dont have their own,
if its not possible to upload from an outside source. here you can so its
not so bad.

It would be nice also when you go into search options that when you get a
big list back , you are not matched with gay men when you are a woman ,
( i got a 54% match with a latino gay man looking for a good bottom which
while very amusing is not what i asked for ...lol.) SO it would be so nice if only those also looking for long distance relationships come up when i hit search after specifying i am only interested in LDR or LTR , or if its Friendship that equally people who also specified the same , come up in search results. the search format is very basic across most hiv dating websites.this one is pretty good .

but its still better than nothing when you are labelled hiv positive and dont see sero discordant as an option .
