i've been looking for a real hiv pos man for over a year
I'm 37 and half of my time with this virus I was loved and happy but then tragically my husband passed away, after that i didn't think there would be anyone who would want me because of the virus...then last year a friend suggested poz personals, hope upon hope i thought there has to be someone who'll like me....so far no luck but we keep hope alive...

Having also been at this for 2 years, I will take the road less travelled and play devils advocate. Intelligent life you ask? In fact if you have to ask then the question is inherently rhetorical.
It is, however, on a more serious note, not a question of intelligence so much as it is a committment and willingness to truly meet others; but in fairness, when over 85% of the female population does not have a picture up or do not respond, you have to ask why not. I wish I had an answer for you, it is a question that I've asked of myself many times over. Still, the Net turns upside down the entire concept of dating. When you add poz to the equation - you have an Alice-in-Wonderfuland world.
Internet dating, and I say this without any malice to many that have strived to give us this forum, is ultimately a violation of human nature, but perhaps that bears an explanation on several points.
Firstly, I really do believe we have turned "mating" upside down; how many profiles speak of marriage and children before even being friends first? This is a case of causuality and precedence; you can not expect to make a connection without making contact first - one logically follows the other in a natural progression.
So perhaps it requires a new thinking; less an emphasis upon finding the proverbial "soul mate" and more energy devoted to discovering people first - the organizations that presumably represent and support us could play a much more pivotal role in recognizing the changing demographics and ultimately providing real, in person forums, outings, and social events.
My reason for this train of thought? The minute population on the poz dating sites represents a tiny fragment of the poz population - which means....there is indeed intelligent life, they just havent found us.

Let me just say this. I am a widowed 38 yr. old woman and I have been on almost every site looking for a good man for a LTR. Ok, men say between 18-52, looks unimportant, blah blah blah. When in reality if you meet every other "qualification", but do not look like a barbie doll or are not a size 2 then they click off your ad. Even when my pic is on there. So don't give me there are no good women out there cause that is bull. I am here and I AM A GOOD WOMAN. But noone gives me a chance cause I am just a little overweight or I am just too average. PLEASE! DO NOT SAY LOOKS DON'T MATTER OR WEIGHT DOESN'T MATTER WHEN IN REALITY, IT DOES!
At least to some men.

A problem that I've encountered on this website (the short time I've been a member) and other websites is that A LOT of men don't want to fill out their profile. Age, height, and weight, and that's it. Not even the check the box interests they ask you when registering. I see many vague "good man looking for LTR" What else, what do you like to do, what do you not like to do...I mean give me somethin'!!!

That is so true. To me, that indicates laziness or secrecy of some sort. How do men expect to get contacted if they don't put ANYTHING in their ads.

its all relative. Of course there is intelligence out here; there may even be class. I guess it all depends on what you consider intelligent and what your experiences with that have been.
Just keep the faith.

Shane
