In 2013 in my first prenatal visit I tested Hiv positive, it was a mixed reaction since it's the same day a pregnancy scan showed I was carrying twins.
I was so overwhelmed by emotions, tears and fear of my future, and kids. My CD4 count was high so after a series of counselling I accepted my status and give septrin.
Even then I remember I used to cry alot at night,I did not live with my boyfriend ,he was not ready to undertake the Hiv test,so I had no support and my family did not know about my status.
I had a smooth pregnancy,i delivered healthy baby girls through cesarean section.I was able to breastfeed them exclusively for six months then introduced powder milk and stopped breat milk, now 12 yrs and both healthy.
I started hiv treatment after giving birth.
Later I gave birth to my son who is now 7 yrs and health,6 months I breastfed him exclusively,I stopped breastfeeding him after 2 yrs,but still fed him other foods.Al along I gave him nevirapine to prevent transmission.
All along have adhered to my medicine,and my viral load has been undetectable,am healthy,have never been sick or bedridden,my immunity is strong and I keep pushing and living positively.I maintain healthy eating, exercise,and keep myself updated on hiv treatment and care.
